C.A.R. Programs

The C.A.R. Alliance is dedicated to educating teens and concerned adults about the dangers of distracted driving and ways that they can work together to eliminate distractions and reduce crashes as a result of increased focus on driving.  All C.A.R. Alliance programs are offered free of charge as a service to the community .  If you are interested in supporting the C.A.R. Alliance please contact us or submit a donation.

We offer 3 programs to teen groups, adult groups and schools:

Teen Program

The teen program consists of a presentation that discusses the statistics that make crashes that number one killer of teens (ages 15-20) in the US every year.  We talk about the various causes of these crashes and focus on distractions as a primary, and sometimes overlooked, danger for new drivers.

We also discuss how adults contribute to this behavior and ways they can reduce their risk of being in a fatal crash by being aware of how to eliminate distraction in their vehicle.

Parent Program

Parents are an important and many times critical component to ensuring that their teens are safe, responsible drivers.  Not only are responsible for their children’s car and many times the outcome of their decisions,  it has been shown that teens are as much as 50% more successful in changing their own behavior when their parents take an active and ongoing role in their development.

In this presentation we are asking parents to look at how often they are riding with their teens, the rules they have in place for driving privileges and their own distracted habits so that they can put themselves in alignment with what their new driver(s) need to become safe, rational drivers.  We cover many of the same topics that we do in the teen presentation but the focus is on how the parent interacts and demonstrates the most desired driving techniques.

Peer Leadership- Awareness Program

We know and understand that no matter how successful a presentation can be in swaying someone’s opinion that the important part of changing behavior is repeating that message many times over in various ways, and seeing peers emulate the behavior as well.

We have created a program that we will hand over to any student group/peer group that would like to keep the awareness of the issue in front of their fellow teens to help keep the message alive and remind teens of the best ways to keep safe while driving.

The guide is fairly comprehensive and it meant to be used in a way that sparks the creativity of the group that intends to implement it so that they can take the program where they think it needs to go. There are also suggestions for teachers/counselors/adults who are interested in helping support the teen peer groups, as well as links to useful websites that will help them keep in touch with the latest information on teen crashes.
